REMEB Project

Natucer continues betting on innovation, which is why it has collaborated with the Spanish company FACSA in the development of a novel membrane bioreactor (MBR), for research applied to wastewater treatment. The project has counted with the collaboration of public organizations such as the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC) of the Jaume I University of Castellón (UJI) as well as entities and organizations from seven EU countries.

The project is called REMEB and consists of developing a device that allows, after filtering, to reuse water in urban and industrial treatment stations. This process is favored thanks to the low cost ceramic membranes made from recycled materials, such as chamotte (material from waste from the ceramic industry itself), agricultural solid waste from the processing of olive oil or industrial waste. of marble.

The objectives of the project are to improve the technical characteristics of traditional systems, since the new materials present better chemical, thermal and mechanical properties. In addition, the manufacturing price of the membranes is greatly reduced, since waste materials are used instead of traditional ones (alumina, zirconia or titania).
